This week we had the first meeting of our Early Years Forum, hosted by Loughborough Primary School. We were delighted to welcome Ruth Malloy and Sascha Taylor from Scrapstore Tooting to lead a workshop for us. Scrapstore is a fantastic facility where for a modest membership fee you can pick up a wealth of arts, crafts and DT resources to use with children in your schools. Ruth led an excellent workshop: as a long-serving teacher in Southwark, Ruth strives to open children’s minds to endless creative possibilities. She has made a green room in the playground where children of all ages can come at break times to craft from the materials they find in this treasure trove of materials. As a group we made puppets out of empty plastic milk cartons that can live inside or outside for children to use.
Our Early Years Forum met last week and put together a list of book titles they really enjoyed with their classes this year. Here they are:
Billy’s Bucket,
Stick Man,
Sharing a Shell,
Superworm,
The Crocodile who didn’t like Water,
Pirate Post,
Dark Tale,
Rainbow Fish,
Not again Red Riding Hood.
The Snail and the Whale
What the Ladybird Heard.
